Transport during the ECSG Salzburg 2019

We have put together a comprehensive transport package for the participants in our Games. The free use of the public transport in and around the city for all participants forms the foundation of this package. And the sport venues outside the Greater Salzburg area can be reached by bus and train free of charge! The following applies to everyone:

  • Keep your participant ID visible!
  • Each participant is responsible for finding out which buses to take and knowing the schedules! Our ECSG 2019 app has the information you need.
  • Please be at the bus stop in good time and take the earliest possible bus.
  • This is especially advisable in the mornings, to ensure that you get to your competition venue on time!

Use of public transport

Generally speaking, all participants can use the following buses and trains free of charge between 26 and 30 June.

  • The buses in and around the City of Salzburg (public city buses, Albus buses)
  • Regional bus lines 111 (Bergheim), 120 (Elixhausen), 130 (Henndorf), 131 and 140 (Eugendorf), 160 (Puch/Hallein), 170 (Anif/Hallein) and 180 (Wals)
  • Train lines: Lokalbahn (local train) (SLB S1/S11, Bürmoos), ÖBB S3 (Hallein or Freilassing), ÖBB S2 (Eugendorf)

ECSG additional buses

In addition, we offer two ECSG bus lines (from 27 to 29 June):

  • ECSG Line Rif (R) to ULSZ Rif
  • ECSG Line Wals (W) to Wals-Käferheim

These lines serve individual sport venues and hotels (booked through out partner travel agency, Panorama Tours). The central changeover bus stop is at Schrannengasse (near the Dorotheum). This is in the direct vicinity of Mirabellplatz, which is a central bus stop for many public bus lines.

Each participant is responsible for finding out which buses to take and knowing the schedules!

Opening gala on Wednesday, 26 June 2019

The opening gala on Wednesday, 26 June, is scheduled to end at 10pm. In this way, all participants can return to their accommodation by public transport.

Each participant is responsible for finding out which buses to take and knowing the schedules!

Evening entertainment (27, 28 and 29 June)

  • In order to ensure that our participants can relax and enjoy the evening entertainment without having to rush off, we have booked the so-called “Nachtstern” for Thursday, 27 June. This means that the buses in and around the City of Salzburg (public city buses, Albus buses) will operate one hour longer than on other weekdays. The same applies on Friday and Saturday, 28 and 29 June.
  • The following regional bus lines will also provide later buses: Elixhausen/120, Henndorf/130, Puch-Hallein/160 and Anif-Hallein/170. These will leave from Salzburg main station at 11.45pm (get there on bus line no. 1 leaving from Messezentrum Salzburg).
  • If you are staying at a hotel along the route of the ECSG Wals line (W), you can take advantage of the two shuttle buses (departure at 10.15pm and 11.15pm) offered on all three evenings.

The scale and dynamic of the evening social event makes it impossible to plan the transport services with absolute precision. We therefore recommend that you get to the bus stop in good time!
