Competition format

The four registered teams in the women’s competition will play a first round (round-robin), followed by finals.

All 21 registered teams in the “men’s open class” will play a first and second round in groups of 3 and 4 (round-robin). After that, the best-ranked teams from the second round will compete in a final round; the other teams will play placement matches.

The 6 registered teams in the “men over 40” category will play a first round of group games in round-robin format. The best teams will then compete in the finals.

Competition rules

The rules of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) apply. The actual playing time for each game is 10 minutes. Per team and game, there will be a 30-second interval of play; from the quarterfinals onward the interval will be 60 seconds. Games in the “men’s open class” will last 12 minutes from the quarterfinals onwards.

A 2-point difference is required from the quarterfinals onwards, even if this means that the game must be extended beyond the allotted playing time.

Please note that only non-marking indoor shoes are permitted.

Scoring

The scoring within the group follows the points system; each win counts 2 points, a draw 1 point, and a loss 0 points.

The following criteria will be applied to decide on the classification of the teams:

  1. Higher number of game points
  2. Direct comparison (only wins/losses) – if two teams are tied
  3. Difference in goals between tied teams – if more than two teams are tied
  4. The most points scored
  5. Coin toss
