Schedules and results:
The 56 teams (mixed open) play a first round in 8 groups of four and 8 groups of three; the 35 teams (mixed over 40s) play 4 qualifiers and then a first round in 7 groups of four and 1 group of three. After that, the first- and second-placed teams in the groups will compete in a final round A (places 1–32 / places 1–16), the third-placed teams in the groups in a final round B (places 33–48 / 17–24) and the fourth-placed teams in a final round C (places 49–56 / 25–31). The four losing teams in the qualifiers “mixed over 40s” will compete in the final round D for the places 32–35 in a round-robin format.
In the “mixed open” class, all places from 1 to 8 will be played out. From 9th place onwards the last games will not be played out – i.e. there will be shared rankings e.g. shared 9th/10th place etc. up to 55th/56th.
In the “mixed over 40s” class, all places will be played out.
In principle, the rules of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) apply. Each match consists of the best of 3 games of 21 points without extra time. The interval between the first and second set is 90 seconds, and between the second and third set 3 minutes. The teams are requested to report to the tournament director 30 minutes before their first match is to begin. The organiser will provide the shuttles; these are Yonex Aerosensa-30 natural shuttles. Please note that only non-marking indoor shoes are permitted.
The scoring within the group follows the points system (win 2 – draw 1 – loss 0 points). If two teams have the same number of points, the deciding factors are first the encounter, then the difference between winning and losing points, and finally the better set and point ratio.
